Gordon was born in Barnet, Hertfordshire on 1 February 1938. He went to Highgate School where he established a school photographic club and ran a film society.  From school he started work in the family construction business where he trained as a site engineer.  Then came two years of National Service in the RAF where, following medical training, he became part of a small team picking up casualties and ferrying them to specialist hospitals in a small Avro Anson aircraft.  Following National Service Gordon returned to the family company which later, as Managing Director, he transformed into a £50 million business.

Having left the family firm in the late 1980’s Gordon focussed on developing his keen interest in photography, setting up a studio and photographic business from his home specialising in wedding and social photography.  Over a total of three decades he photographed well over 2000 weddings. Alongside this he advised small businesses as part of a government scheme, and was heavily involved in his children’s school as chair of the parents’ association and subsequently a parent governor. He also greatly enjoyed volunteering at Addenbrookes hospital, which he continued into his eighties.

In recent years Gordon suffered many health issues all of which he faced with his usual strength of character. He was a fighter and his relentless positivity enabled him to enjoy life at home with his family right up until his final days.

Gordon was a kind and gentle man who was always interested in others and very generous with his time.  He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and more recently great grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. He will never be forgotten.
