Brian Pettit was born in 1933, the youngest of 4 children to parents Victor and Lillian Pettit, in Cambridge.
Brian joined the RAF at the age of 18, training to be a pilot and eventually flying all 3 of the V-bombers, his favourite of which was the Vulcan, which he flew between 1966 and 1974 during which time he was posted to Cyprus; a posting the whole family loved.
Brian was a family man, married for 69 years to Marjorie, and forever proud of his children, Richard and Heather, and always showing great interest in his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
In the later years of Brian’s life he was a regular at Addenbrooke’s for various ailments. He had a big operation at the age of 85 which the surgeon told him would likely give him a few more years – and we were lucky enough to have him for another seven.
Brian was a brave cold war warrior – but to us he was a loving and much-loved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Thinking of you all, we watched the live streaming & sorry we were unable to attend. A beautiful memorial service for Brian.
Sending our deepest sympathy.

Remembering the times we had in Cyprus, I was proud to be a member of your crew. It was a pleasure to serve with you and enjoy the times we all had together with our families.
