Sending love to Sam, and all Alan's children today.
Mrs Kat Middleditch
My dear old Uncle Al. You were a massively significant part of my life, and our relationship held a special bond. You were always there for me, stepping into the role of Dad when mine—your big brother—passed away just after I turned 9. You took us under your wing, supporting us through what was a difficult time. I’ll be eternally grateful for all the times I wanted to come and stay for most, if not all, of my school breaks for many years—memories I will always cherish. Like spending days on end in Alan’s Sports Centre, just watching the world go by and laughing when you’d say to customers, “What can I do you for?” Or the evening dog walks under a star-filled sky, in awe of how strong you were holding back Rosco—the rather eager and powerful German Shepherd (he used to run around the field literally carrying a huge fallen branch like it was a stick, taking you out in the process if you got in his way). Later in life, I was blessed to have you living near me in Spain, where me Claire, Elsa and later on little Harry, got to spend many a fun day with you all in Javea with you, Sam, Phoebe and Amelia. And if that wasn’t enough, you were my best man when I got married. To me, you simply were the best uncle. Love you mate.
Mr Elliot Ackland
To the Ackland family, we were so honoured to see Uncle Alan back in December 2024, when we visited from Australia. He was on top form and we all had some great conversations and hugs with him. Of course, we would love to be there to help celebrate his life and to raise a glass but the travel is too far. However, we will enjoy a glass of red wine in his honour on the weekend. We hope you are all bearing up as best as possible and that you see Uncle Alan off in style! Big hugs and lots of love, Richard, Fiona, Charlie & Archie.
Mr Richard Ackland
Alan, I will always cherish the memories I have of you. You will be forever missed.
