In memory of Jean Osborne (22.08.1942 to 31.12.2024)
On 31st December 2024 we said goodbye to Jean who died peacefully in her sleep under the care of the Arthur Rank Hospice at the age of 82.
Having moved with her husband, Alan, from Edmonton to Sawston in 1965 Jean became over many decades a well-known character around the village.
Here she laid down her roots having two children, Stephanie and Nigel, and five grandchildren.
She was a vibrant, warm, empathetic and inspirational person with an infectious personality who contributed so much to family life, friends, her work as a teaching assistant at Green Hedges School and the wider Sawston area.
During her nearly 60 years in Sawston time she actively supported many organizations including the inception of the Sawston Scene, Links badminton club, school governor at Bellbird, Sawston parish councillor, Riding for the Disabled and in retirement the Pampisford WI, U3A, Challis Trust and most recently the Royal British Legion.
Although Jean was very proud of her garden and loved flowers she would rather you gave monies instead to the charities that meant so much to her in life.
Jean's family would like to thank you all for your kind words and thoughts at what is a difficult time for us and we look forward to celebrating her life at the funeral.
In loving memory of Jean, a great friend of many years. I will miss you.

Dear Alan, I could see how much you loved Jean and I fully understand why. I feel for you, and your family, at this very sad time. Jean was part of my life (and Jeannette's) since the early days of the 'Sawston Scene' and for the fifty odd years since and she enhanced it as she did for so many people. Rest in peace, lovely lady.
