Messages of condolence

To our brother in law & best friend Hugh, remembering the good times we had on our cricket & Yorkshire holidays. We were all looking forward to Antigua at the end of the month so that Tony & Hugh could attend two one day internationals, sadly now not to be but we will raise a glass to your memory & to all the good times we had. Remembering you with so much love, Andy & Tony

We are all so very sorry to hear of Hugh's sudden passing. We will remember him, for his cheerfulness with us all, and for his seemingly endless knowledge of 'who did what and when' in all Sports. He was very active in many sport activities always and we know how much he enjoyed that. We played card games, and I still don't really know how he knew who was holding what. It was often a case of 'You've got that. Put in down!' Steve & Rachel, Rosemary & David.

Dear Uncle Hugh, you lived your life the way you loved, enjoying sports, bridge and the company of your friends over a pint. I'm glad we played golf together and reminisced about Mum and Dad last year, Tony and I will remember those stories we shared with great fondness. We send our love to Pauline and Carol as know they will miss your company and humour the most and are dealing with the shock of losing you suddenly. RIP Uncle Hugh. With love from Susan, Tony and family x

Mrs Susan Young

Deepest sympathy to Pauline and Carol and all those who will continue to miss Hugh greatly. I and all his bridge-playing friends feel and share your pain. I've known and partnered Hugh for several years now, He did so much for our clubs, for which we are all most grateful. He improved my game - thank you for that Hugh. He became my buddy for a drink together and a chew of the cud and a putting of the world to rights over many Monday evening pints at the Red Lion. Now he is no longer with us I realise just how much I value those times. I still can't believe I won't see him again. I'm reminded of him most days by ordinary things that happen in life. RIP great friend Hugh - we can't replace you.
