Born in 1948, in South-West London, John was a dedicated fireman with the LFB for 25 years. He cherished his late wife, Susan Walford and, after meeting her, settled down in Wimpole, where they raised their 2 children, Dominic and Rebecca. Here, he became an active member of the community, particularly with his involvement in St Andrews Church committee and the PTA. In his later life, John was a popular player at several bowls clubs and enjoyed table tennis.
John passed away on July 17th, from decompensated heart failure. In his final days, he received palliative care from the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. The hospice is an incredible place, allowing patients and their families to spend peaceful time together in their last days. The attentive and compassionate care offered by the staff kept John comfortable and their support for Rebecca and Dominic was fantastic. We are sure John would like to thank them for everything that they do and ensure they can keep providing this wonderful service.
In memory of John who was a much valued member of his community With love from Jane Graham

So sorry to hear the news about John - he was such a lovely, caring person. We have fond memories of him as a parent and volunteer at Petersfield, always ready to help and always at the heart of things where fundraising and supporting the school was concerned. The world was a much better place with him in it but there's some comfort to know he is with Susan now. Rest in Peace John. The Newberry Family xx
