Mr John Michael Thrower

main.jpegWe would like to honour the memory of Michael, our beloved husband, father and grandad/gramps. Since Michael passed away, we have been overwhelmed by the support and kindness you have shown our family – it is clear how well loved and respected Mike was by friends and the wider community.

Michael and his family have chosen two charities to support, in his memory:

-        We would like to donate to the Hertfordshire Community NHS Charitable Trust, based in Welwyn Garden City, as a thank you for the care and support they provided to Michael and his family since his terminal diagnosis in May. The money raised will go towards the training of nurses within the palliative and end of life care team and the continued provision of care to current and future families in our community who may come to rely on the outstanding service that the palliative care team provided to us.

As an ambassador for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, we would also like to donate to this national charity. Mike not only called on the services of the RNLI to rescue him and his family (including the pet goose) on one of the numerous times the engine of “The British Heart III” failed but he also supported the RNLI in fundraising when his sailing days had come to an end.

We are saddened that, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot have a proper celebration of Michael’s life but hope that you will join us in remembering him through donations. Please also raise a glass to him on November 25th – his funeral will be on live webcast should you wish to join us.

Total collected to date: £2,184.11

Played golf at Royston as I was Mikes vice captain for the Pulsatillas. I spent time on the course and in the bar enjoying the day’s winning or losing. Mike also taught me to play bridge at Melbourn bridge club, where I put him in some tricky contracts with Mike saying “ that’s an interesting contract let’s see if I can get out of that” with a smile! The answer was he usually did! Thanks for the times we spent together. Keith
